Sumo lovers and fans of Japanese art will both enjoy this delightful porcelain tea mug that offers a different view of wrestlers in action. There is an ink drawing of a wrestler on the Eastern position of the ring, or "dohyo" and another ink drawing of a wrestler on the Western side. The final view portrays the wrestlers engaged in a hard fought battle.
The background of this mug is filled with sketches of a Japanese fan and the "gunbai" or "war fan" used by the referee of the match to declare the winner. Predominantly drawn in navy ink over white porcelain, the occasional touches of red highlight the pictures very well. The hefty size of these mugs is masculine in appearance, a perfect background to the realistic sumo wrestler bout design.
Dishwasher and microwave safe, these mugs are great as gifts for friends, colleagues and family. Made in Japan. (Discontinued)
