The word “Donabe” means “earthenware clay pot” in Japanese and they are traditionally used for Nabemono (pot cooking) dishes like shabu-shabu. When taken care of, the Japanese donabe pots can last for a long time. After usage, it Is recommended to allow it to air dry upside down to prevent mold from growing on it. Before storing you will also want to make sure that the donabe is completely dry or you may risk mold growth as well.
