Made in Japan from quality ceramics, this small Japanese plate set features geometric pattern designs known as Ise-Katagami Stencils.
Katagami stenciling is a Japanese craft seen in a variety of items and is done by using paper stencils for dyeing textiles. The traditional way to make these stencils include treating washi paper in a special acidic mix using persimmon juice. After that, special tools are used to carve out the desired stencil pattern and for stamping items with a special dye.
For these small Japanese plates, these Katagami patterns are mimicked to create cherry blossom, geometric, chrysanthemum, and floral starburst designs. Each plate in this Japanese plate set is also decorated using a different color like brown, pale blue, dark blue, jade green, and a red orange. The underside of these small round plates are a simple yet elegant white with the brand name and location (Toki, Japan) stamped in the center.
Perfect for holding small condiments like wasabi with soy sauce or pickled vegetables for Asian cuisine, this Japanese plate set comes packaged in a beautifully decorated gift box which makes it perfect for gift giving.
