Made in Japan from quality wood, these beautiful Wakasa Japanese chopsticks are stunning with several small pieces of opal or shell inlay decorating the entire top half of the chopsticks. Setting these chopsticks
at a dinner table will definitely add flare and would be a great conversation piece among family and friends.
Made from dark wood which can be seen at the bottom half of the chopsticks, the upper half is made with a time consuming technique which makes them known as Wakasa Japanese Chopsticks. The process used to make these Wakasa chopsticks is to slowly add layer-by-layer of the lacquered wood until it reaches the master craftsman desired look. These layers of lacquered wood can sometimes even consist of about 50 layers just to get the intricate details of the design with each chopstick. Once the layering is competed, the chopsticks are then cut down to expose the designs placed under each layer like the shell inlay and glittery golden colors of these chopsticks.
The top of the chopsticks with the lacquered layering process is a glossy black with shimmering streaks of gold peeking behind the many pieces of shell inlay in beautiful opal colors, reflecting different hues as it moves in the light. The bottom half of the chopsticks are smooth with the dark wood exposed and an overly textured and sandy tip, which is helpful when picking up food.
These intricate and finely detailed Wakasa Japanese chopsticks are also dishwasher safe making the upkeep very simple for its owner. Although chopsticks are used for eating, these beautifully designed chopsticks can also be a great hair decoration as well. These chopsticks are wrapped in plastic and can be a wonderful gift for the holidays.
