chopsticks using a labor-intensive lacquer application of layers upon layers of lacquer.
Produced in the Fukui prefecture of Japan since the Edo period, wakasa Japanese lacquered chopsticks uses polishing and carving methods to create intricate designs. Spiral ring designs such as on this beautiful rose tinted chopsticks are created by carving through the layers of lacquer. All sides are carved in to expose the intricate deep rose, brown, and beige tints of lacquer.
