With his serene expression, traditional Asian-inspired ensemble and classic pointed beard and white-haired moustache, our longevity god charm is a fun-loving way to promote a prosperous long life.
Each charm features a small porcelain representation of Shou Lao, or simply Shou-the ancient god of longevity popularized in historic Chinese stories, artwork and texts. In addition to being the celebrated symbol of
longevity, Shou is also recognized as one of the traditional “Three Stars.” These Taoist figures are commonly referred to as Fu (fortune) Lu (happiness) and Shou.
In keeping with tradition, the Shou figure portrayed in our delightful charm is an old gentlemen with a kind smile and a markedly round and prominent forehead. He also wears eye-catching attire consisting of a yellow robe with red cuffs, light green pants, and dainty brown shoes.
Crafted in
Taiwan, the Shou figurine is also shown holding a peach in one hand and a staff in the other; both objects that are traditionally associated with this ancient Asian god. The dainty deity is connected to a cord made of burgundy and gold-colored polyester fabric. The gold segment extends into a medium-length braided strap-perfect for attaching to your cell phone, purse, handbag or other accessories.
As a perfect complement to this unique piece, a small white bead decorated with a gold-ink flower image is positioned just above the gold and burgundy cord. This elegant item is topped with a simple yet elegant Chinese knot that marks the start of the strap segment of each charm.
