The majority of the Japanese clay pot and lidís exteriors are covered with a beige glaze with streaks of white and speckles of gray to give it an extra layer of aesthetic. A thin coat of brown glaze is painted on the donabe potís small handles and the top part of the lid. The most eye-catching part of the potís design are the shades of blue and brown separated by lines of white that comes down the potís lid three times and the actual pot two times on each side. While this design goes all the way from the lidís knob to its rim, the design stops about midway down the potís body. All of these glazed portions are covered with a topcoat of crackled glaze, allowing the pot to shine in the light.
The pot contrasts the colorful exterior with a papery-textured white interior with a few miniscule brown and blue speckles sparsely scattered throughout. The other portion of the pot that shares this off-white color is the bottom exterior of the pot, which exposes the raw clay from which the pot is made from and is rough and grainy to the touch. Moving to the top of the Japanese clay pot, the potís lid features one ventilation hole as well as a circular knob on the top with three sharp and deep groves. This knob allows you to easily grab hold of the lid if you need to take it on or off the pot. With so many unique points to this amazing pot, youíll want this amazing pot on your dining table right away!
