Komon, which was popular in the Edo period, refers to detailed patterns of various designs that back then, were made for textile printing. With a large variety of different designs made with this fine pattern style, these four tea cups display a checkered pattern, an arabesque pattern, a blooming chrysanthemum pattern, and finally a "sakura" or cherry blossom pattern. With an over all smooth and glossy black color on the outside of the cups, these patterns are displayed in a black alloy silver color. The inside of these cups are a simple off white color, making this classic black and white set easy to match with your favorite tea pot.
