Made in Japan, this square plates set has edges that curve slightly upwards to keep dishes centered and to eliminate spillage. The texture speckles throughout the entire dish because of the easily captured light, making the dish look roughly textured while it is actually very smooth. The plate set rests on a smaller square footing that exposes the natural ceramic clay it is made from, which is roughly colored in the tint of brown that the rims are as well.
