In the ancient Japanese military, the samurai was the warrior and could be instantly recognized by their elaborate headgear that matched their heavy armor. Also known in Japan as the kabuto, this helmet is a symbol of bravery and strength. It is not unusual to see different versions of a kabuto gracing a family’s home as a tribute to the boys and men of the family and a replica version is often used in decorating a home during the children’s day celebration. This ceramic version of the shogun helmet is carefully replicated to make a bold chopstick rest. Shaped like the actual helmet, the ceramic base is accented with navy blue and persimmon colors. The horn shaped ornament of the front is painted in shiny gold paint, this adds formality to the look of this piece. We have made it very easy for you to find the perfect pair of chopsticks that will look good resting on this rest from our wide selection. The navy, gold and persimmon combination is also available on many of our patterned tableware as well. A bold and daring way to liven your table top while keeping your chopsticks from rolling around. Made in Japan.
