This laughing Buddha gives you much to be joyful for. The god of contentment and happiness, he carries prayer beads in one hand and a ru yi in the other. Ru yi literally translates to "as you wish" in Chinese, and is a type of staff typically composed of a top resembling a cloud or heart attached to a long handle. Often made of valuable materials such as jade, ivory and precious metals, a ru yi is believed to convey good wishes such as longevity and prosperity. This ru yi has two inlaid turquoise colored gems.
Handcrafted from naturally colored clay found in the Yixing region of China, our laughing Buddha will have you smiling at his intricate details, including elongated earlobes and petite feet. A tea pot spout juts from his rotund belly while a handle protrudes from his back. To fill and refill tea pot, simply lift his head. Buddha arrives packaged in a paper gift box. Hand wash recommended. To learn more about Yixing teaware, please read our archived February 2001 newsletter. Made in China.
